Physiological concentration of oxytocin
Webb1 nov. 2024 · The evidence on evaluation of peripheral oxytocin as an indicator of concentrations at a central level is contradictory. There are diverse physiological stimuli that relate to the increase of oxytocin production at both central and peripheral levels, for instance, during pregnancy or childbirth, during nursing and during sexual intercourse. Webb1 apr. 2001 · The fact that OT is found in equivalent concentrations in the neurohypophysis and plasma of both sexes suggests that OT has further physiological functions. The expression of OT and its receptor has now been identified in a variety of peripheral tissues.
